				      <title>Sunday, 22 November, 2009 - Plastic Camera Group: Life Through a Plastic Lens</title>
				      <link>http://calendar.madison.com/events/index.php&#63;com=detail&amp;eID=41315</link>
<description>Life Through a Plastic Lens exhibit, November 20 – January 2, Opening reception with gallery talk, Saturday, November 21, 4-7pm
Peninsula School of Art, in Door County will display the works of the Plastic Camera Group of Madison, WI, in the exhibition Life Through a Plastic Lens. Embracing problems such as light leaks, uneven focus and low contrast, photographers reveal how the “imperfections” of plastic, toy cameras produce welcome, artful results.

Approximately 60 photographs will be on display, including a handful of photographs provided by students who recently attended a Holga camera photography workshop at the Peninsula School of Art. Subject matter for the exhibition includes both rural and urban landscapes, portraits, street photography and still-life compositions. A sampling of cameras of various vintage will also be on display.

Plastic camera images consistently appear in fine art photography books and exhibitions, and claim prestigious awards. In 2001, David Burnett won the White House Press Photographers Award for his photo of Al Gore at a campaign stop taken with a Holga camera.

The exhibit and associated events are free and open to the public. For further information, visit www.peninsulaartschool.com or call 920-868-3455

Accepting Donations Through December 9, 2009

Working Moms Networking Group
Discover Family Chiropractic
109 River Place, Monona

The number of homeless children in shelters continues to grow at an alarming rate. Sleeping in temporary housing can be exceptionally stressful for children and we all know a growing body needs a good night’s sleep.

How to help&#63; The Working Moms Networking Group is assembling individual tote bags filled with a brand new security blanket (receiving blanket size), a new or gently-used stuffed animal and a children’s book in hopes of bringing a holiday gift (and a restful night) to a child in a local shelter.

Your donation of plushies and books will not only put a smile on a child’s face but earn you a &#36;10 credit towards chiropractic service from Discover Family Chiropractic (the official drop-off location). Bring in a blanket and you’ll be entered in a drawing to win a free set of Barefoot Books or a 60 minute massage.

Help make this the most wonderful time of the year for a child in crisis. Donations can be brought to Discover Family Chiropractic Care, 109 River Place in Monona, before December 9th.

				      <link>http://calendar.madison.com/events/index.php&#63;com=detail&amp;eID=35268</link>
<description>One might be tempted to call López a landscape artist, but not in any traditional understanding of the words. The complex works in “Nicola López: Urban Transformations” are unpredictable urban worlds built with the imagery of debris from our manufactured, technological world. Her mixed media works are often constructed as three-dimensional collages and installations from cut-out and repieced prints.</description>
