The Musical Comedy Murders of 1940
'MURDERS is the intelligent person's kind of nonsense.' —NY Magazine.
'The Musical Comedy Murders of 1940' contains all the entertainment of the corny thrillers of Hollywood's heyday while masterfully poking fun of the “biz” of “show biz.”
Acting hopefuls looking for that “next big shot at the big time” gather to audition for the newest Broadway hit. Of course, the location of this audition is in the depths of a spooky, old mansion, far off the road far and away from the ears of anyone who can hear the screams. Did I mention there is a blizzard outside, leaving those inside to fend for themselves? As they work the songs (and each other) a more desperate performer is about to emerge: 'Stage Door Slasher!' One by one, actors and investigators go missing while those who remain desperately try to find the killer and steal the spotlight whenever possible.
'…enormous fun…Its strength comes in part from the sheer diamond wit and diamante showbiz glitter of Bishop's writing. Even his corn is succulently served.' —NY Post.
